Author(s): S. Supriya, S. Kalainathan, S. Swaroop

The gadolinium doped sodium bismuth titanate (NBGT) ceramics have been synthesized by solid state reaction method. NBGT is prepared in the ratio Na0.5Bi(0.5-x)GdxTiO3 where x = 0.05, 0.1 and 0.15. The powder was calcined at 800 - 900°C for 2 hours. The sample was sintered at 1000 to 1100°C for 1 hr. The phase formation was confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) studies and morphology by scanning electron microscope (SEM). The presences of functional groups were confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The particle size measurements were done for these samples using laser scattering particle size distribution analyzer.
