The reality of surgical training that we are living nowadays is completely different, with limitations to learning hours, legal boundaries and last but not least, a never stopping evolution of technologies that require skills to be continuously up to date. It is renown today that technical skills impact the outcomes of surgery and may cause a relevant increase of complications, when not properly achieved. The last decade has seen several improvements in the field of surgical training, with the introduction of new technologies and standardized protocols by scientific societies. By the moment when these novel educational trends where settling and getting widespread, the pandemic brought to social distancing. This security measure, which provided undoubtful advantages, produced an almost complete stop of any form of aggregation, including surgical training. In a time when the shortage of doctors is between the most relevant issues to be faced, some solutions are starting to be suggested in order to continue spreading technical-skills training at its best. Biography: Domenico Veneziano is an Urologist, Fellow of the European Board of Urology. He was born in Reggio Calabria, Italy, where he actually works as a full-time physician in the department of Urology and Kidney Transplant, G.O.M. Hospital. He is adjunct Assistant Professor of Urology, at the Hosftra-Northwell University of New York (USA) and adjunct Professor of Urology at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (IT). In 2014 he completed a fellowship at the University of Minnesota (USA) in “simulation and education technologies” with the accreditation of the American College of Surgeons, the first fellowship in the world expressively dedicated to simulation in surgery. D.Veneziano is an internationally renowned key-opinion leader and pioneer in the field of surgical education and digital healthcare, with several novelties introduced in curriculum building, simulator design and in the organization of hands-on training events, with over 75 invited lectures since 2014 and over 80 courses coordinated in 16 different countries.
